My pal in Cleveland
If you make it over to Cleveland, watch for appearances by my old guitar buddy Jim Nolan. After he left Austin and moved back to Cleveland to be near his family, he surprised us all by leaving us four-chord folkie singer-songwriter-covering living-room lamers in the dust and taking up the lap steel. He even found an authentic old-timer of some sort to teach him and started playing "out" from time to time. We couldn't believe it.
Nothing as paradigm-busting as They Might Be Giants, to be sure, but I'll bet he puts on a good show anyway.
